Kein, Annu Yecholim
Yes We Can
Featuring:
Dan Shapiro
(Barack Obama's Middle East Adviser)
Rabbi Fred Scherlinder Dobb
(Rabbi of Adat Shalom Congregation; President of the Washington Board of Rabbis)

"Kein, Annu Yecholim (Yes, We Can)" is an opportunity for Jews from the metro DC area who are inspired by Barack's message of change to gather together in support of his presidential campaign.  We will conclude Shabbat with a Havdalah (separation) service led by Rabbi Fred Scherlinder Dobb and hear from speakers including Barack's Middle East adviser Dan Shapiro and others.
The inspiration for the title of this event comes from the recent music video "Yes, We Can" that features Jewish actress Maya Rubin saying "Kein, Annu Yecholim" (Yes, We Can) twice in the video.  Check it out:

The American Kidney Fund
Fund Raiser
The American Kidney Fund and Stars Bistro & Bar are proud to present a Happy Hour Celebration in honor of the second annual Steps that Count Walk along the scenic Georgetown Waterfront on September 30, 2007. Supporters of the walk are invited to enjoy hors d’oeuvres provided by Stars Bistro & Bar, drinks and good company.

The happy hour is schedule for Tuesday, September 11, 2007 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Stars Bistro & Bar located at 2120 P Street, NW, Washington, DC 20037. A portion of all proceeds will benefit the American Kidney Fund and the Steps that Count Walk.
The American Kidney Fund is the nation’s #1 source of financial assistance to kidney patients, and a leader in education and outreach to those at risk of kidney disease.  Ninety-six cents of every dollar spent goes directly to programs and services.  In 2006, the organization helped more than 63,000 kidney patients, distributing $81.9 million in grants.
The American Kidney Fund has been named a Gold Star Charity by Forbes Magazine and America’s Best Health Charity by Reader’s Digest. AKF also has been named an A+ Charity by the American Institute of Philanthropy, and have received Charity Navigator’s highest four-star rating for six consecutive years.

OPEN CIRCLE THEATRE
PRESENTS

Celebrating
Songs For A New World
Featuring Rob McQuay, Joe Peck, James Garland and other members of the cast of our current production of
Songs For A New World
As well as our fabulous music director
Zak Sandler
Come have a great meal, enjoy wonderful entertainment and help support our theatre.  We will request a $5 donation at the door and 10% of the bar and 15% of food will go to help us continue our artistic visions.
The Buzz on Songs:
“Putting a highly politicized spin on "Songs" heightens and intensifies the drama of the piece, which once was universally about people, love and loss and is now about a specific time and place in present-day America” – Washington Times
“Thus, Suzanne Richard's re-envisioning of the piece with a new storyline, using the songs to examine the lives of two soldiers serving in Iraq, may lose Daisy Prince's contribution to the work in the process but does no damage to Brown's. Indeed, placing the songs in a new context adds depth and impact.” – Potomac Stages
“…artful and intriguing.” – Washington Post
For more information on the show and how to get tickets, please go to www.opencircletheatre.org
